Adam Meyer studied trombone performance, composing/arranging and conducting at the Queensland Conservatorium and Queensland University of Technology. He is currently Principal Bass Trombone of the Northern Rivers Symphony Orchestra and freelances with big bands, musical theatre productions and recording artists throughout south-east Queensland. As a soloist, Adam has appeared with the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, Gold Coast City Brass Band, and the QUT Big Band. In 2006 he performed three World Premieres of works by Joel Saunders and Michael di Mauro, and the Australian Premiere of Houston Dunleavy’s Compromising Positions.

An active conductor and musical director, Adam has worked on productions of Footloose, BuddyJoseph and the Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat, and Guys & Dolls. He conducts bands and orchestras on a regular basis. His arrangements and original works have been performed by the QUT Big Band, QUT Voices, and a number of school wind and jazz ensembles. He is a member of the Australian Band and Orchestra Directors Association and an accredited Writer Member of the Australasian Performing Rights Association.

Committed to music education and training, Adam was for many years on the Performance Music faculty at Sheldon College, directing private lessons on trombone, trumpet, euphonium and tuba, and the College Brass and Jazz Ensembles. He has previously tutored the brass sections of the Gold Coast Youth Orchestra and continues to work as a clinician for instrumental music programs at several Queensland public schools.

Adam maintains an active schedule as a freelance instrumentalist and recording artist, composer/arranger/copyist, conductor and music director, educator and trainer, writer /commentator and general music industry consultant. He maintains The Weekly Ammo, a blog featuring regular articles on brass performance, reviews, internet and technology links, and other happenings in the Australian and global music industry.
